This north-northeastern district of Kassel stretches along the main traffic axis Ihringshäuser Straße and seamlessly transitions to the neighboring community of Ihringshausen at the northern city border. Fasanenhof is mainly characterized by rental apartment buildings, which date back to cooperative settlement activities since the district's establishment in the 1920s.
The densely populated Fasanenhof does not have a proper town center but is almost exclusively a residential district. This also includes the districts Bossental, a quiet residential area with predominantly long-term tenant structures, and Möncheberg, a district around the largest municipal hospital in Hesse, the Klinikum Kassel.
The allotment gardens form a green oasis, and for sports activities, there is the sports field of the Sportsfreunde Fasanenhof.
