Ottobeuren is a market town in the Upper Swabian district of Unterallgäu in Bavaria. The eponymous main town is the seat of the municipal administration and the administrative community of Ottobeuren.
The place is especially known for the Benedictine monastery Ottobeuren. Ottobeuren is located about 10 kilometers southeast of Memmingen in the Donau-Iller region. The landscape is shaped by the rolling relief formed by gravel deposits during the last ice ages. The area belongs to Upper Swabia. The Western Günz flows through the municipal area.
The lowest point in the municipality is at 617 m above sea level in the valley of the western Günz northwest of Stephansried, the highest point at 834 m above sea level southeast of Neuvogelsang.
