Dorfhain is a municipality in the northwest of the district Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge and is located on the edge of the Tharandter Forest. It lies about 20 km southwest of Dresden and is bordered to the north by the city of Tharandt and to the south by the municipality of Klingenberg. The town was shaped by silver mining for about 400 years. For those interested, the 4 km long mining educational trail and the mining show facility 'AURORA-Erbstollen' offer much to see about the history of ore extraction in this region. Dorfhain is also an ideal starting point for hikes into the nearby forest areas and the Weißeritztal. You can spend your leisure time on offered carriage rides, at the beautiful adventure pool, and enjoying the high-quality gastronomy. A sight to see is the Dorfhain church - one of the oldest buildings in the town. The B 173 runs north and the B 170 east of the municipality area.
