Dohna is a town in the Free State of Saxony. It is located in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge and is the seat of the administrative community Dohna-Müglitztal. The town of Dohna lies southeast of Dresden and south of Heidenau at the entrance to the Müglitztal as the gateway to the Osterzgebirge. The towns of Heidenau and Dohna, with a total of about 23,000 inhabitants, border directly on the state capital Dresden. Due to rising rents and purchase prices in Dresden, many people prefer to live in Heidenau and Dohna.
With an area of about 11 km², it lies in the upper Elbe valley and is the third largest town after Pirna and Freital in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. Due to its very favorable transport connections, Heidenau/Dohna are the towns of short distances.
With the S-Bahn, you can reach Dresden main station in 15 minutes (a shorter travel time to Dresden city center than from many districts of Dresden itself). Road (motorway A17), train, bus, and ship ensure good and fast accessibility to all destinations in Heidenau and from Heidenau.
