Wilsdruff originated around 1275 as a Waldhufendorf and was then called 'Wilandes-Dorf'. At that time, the Jakobikirche, which still exists today, was built. Today, Wilsdruff on the 'Wilden Sau' is a charming small town. It is located west of Dresden in the Weißeritz district. It is the urban center of the 'Wilsdruffer Land'. The districts of Birkenhain, Blankenstein, Braunsdorf, Grumbach, Grund, Helbigsdorf, Herzogswalde, Kaufbach, Kesselsdorf, Kleinopitz, Limbach, Mohorn, and Oberhermsdorf belong to Wilsdruff. After reunification, Wilsdruff developed into a flourishing sub-center due to skillful local politics. More than 10,000 people live here today. Important sights include the Jakobikirche, the oldest bell in Saxony, and the town center with the market square, town hall, and Nikolaikirche. The infrastructure is very well covered with the A4 Wilsdruff junction, the A17 Dresden-Gorbitz junction, and the B 173 to Dresden city center and Freiberg. By car, it takes 15 minutes to Dresden-Klotzsche Airport and 25 minutes to Dresden city center. There are four primary schools and one secondary school.
