Besides agriculture, Laubegast had a shipbuilding tradition due to its river location, which has been maintained to this day. A large part of the historic paddle steamer fleet was built and is still maintained at the Laubegast shipyard. Many of the old villas and townhouses now shine in new splendor, while the village and small-town character of the district has been preserved. The creation of the Elbe cycle path has made Laubegast increasingly a destination for excursions. Shopping facilities for daily needs and medical care are in the immediate vicinity. The city center can also be reached quickly by public transport. Two trams and a bus line connect Laubegast with the center and surrounding areas.
