Großzschachwitz is a district of Dresden. Together with Sporbitz it forms the statistical district Großzschachwitz in the Leuben local office area. Großzschachwitz lies between the districts Niedersedlitz, Sporbitz, Leuben and Kleinzschachwitz. Großzschachwitz is separated from Kleinzschachwitz in the northeast by the Lockwitzbach. In the northwest the borders are Berthold-Haupt-Straße and the Dresden Margarine Factory or the VEM-Sachsenwerk (an electric motor factory), in the west the Straße des 17. Juni, the high-rise buildings Niedersedlitz and the industrial area Bosewitzer Straße. Großzschachwitz is near an old branch of the Elbe and therefore has several gravel pits. Besides that, there is mostly loose residential development and some fields today. The center is the Bahnhofstraße stop with the Günther department store, which has been closed since December 2007, was demolished in 2016 and is being rebuilt in 2017.
