Description
The former Park Hospital was planned by Hugo Licht at the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century and built by Otto Wilhelm Scharenberg. Subsequently, the sanatorium was taken over by the Royal Saxon State in 1913 and was henceforth called "Royal State Sanatorium and Nursing Home Leipzig-Dösen." In the course of the founding of the districts of the GDR, the clinic returned to the ownership of the city of Leipzig in 1952. In 1999, the Park Hospital was taken over by the Rhön Clinic and relocated to a new building in the Leipzig Probstheida district in 2002. Since then, the existing buildings and the grounds have no longer been used as a clinic area.
The 14-hectare site connects past and modern living comfort after extensive renovation with its 18 new buildings and 20 old buildings. Characteristic are especially the imposing clinker facades with ornamentation as well as the tall sash windows of the old buildings. The listed buildings are among the most significant examples of the pavilion style, which denotes a period in hospital building design at the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century. The already applied pavilion construction method is also taken up again in the construction of the new buildings, thus combining new and historic into a harmonious overall picture.
In addition to sufficient play, leisure, and exercise areas on the traffic-calmed and thus family-friendly site, a daycare center and a local supplier are being developed. Two underground garages and a parking garage on the site complement the exclusive appearance of this modern residential complex.
