The Winterhude district is located in the middle of Hamburg.
In eastern Winterhude, on the edge of the district (east of Saarlandstraße, on the border to Barmbek-Nord), another part of the city was developed a few years ago.
On the site of an old freight station between Hellbrookstraße and Alte Wöhr, a new residential area has already been completed. On former allotment garden areas directly to the north, the so-called Pergolenviertel was created in 2016. Various residential buildings with a total of about 1,400 apartments as well as park, playground and sports fields have been built on the area.
Eastern Winterhude is well connected to the Hamburg rapid transit network, it lies almost entirely within walking distance of the stations Saarlandstraße, Alte Wöhr or Rübenkamp.
