The Winterhude district is located in the middle of Hamburg. In eastern Winterhude, on the edge of the district (east of Saarlandstraße, at the border to Barmbek-Nord), another part of the city was developed a few years ago.
On the site of an old freight station between Hellbrookstraße and Alte Wöhr, a new residential area has already been completed. On former allotment garden areas directly to the north, the so-called Pergolenviertel was created in 2016.
